Wellington Point High School Chaplain Cate

Hi, my name is Cate Struik. I joined the WPSHS team in term 4 last year and am truly blessed to be part of this amazing school.

My background is in training (Dept of Health NSW) and youthwork (Streetwork in Sydney), although I’m a born and bred Queenslander. I have a degree in Psychology and a heart for young people trying to make their way in the world.

I am wife to an amazing man and mum to a wonderful little girl. As a family, we are currently learning to navigate the world of primary school with our daughter.

I love God and my greatest joy is when I get to help young people realise how much they are loved by their heavenly Dad.

I also enjoy good food, good conversation and having fun. I like coffee, worship, learning new things, the colour green, wine, singing, photography, street art and languages.

I am a rubbish night owl and can be relied upon to fall asleep at any gathering that goes past 11pm. My students are appalled and have vowed to cure me.

I like most music, but am mildly allergic to Justin Bieber and Kanye West. Thanks to my year 7 girls, there is nothing in this world that I do not know about Taylor Swift. Fortunately, my year 12 boys are into AC/DC and Pantera, so it all balances out.

I believe there is nothing in this world that can’t be fixed with a little bit of coffee and a whole lot of Jesus.

Welcome Cate

A warm welcome to Catherine (Cate) Struik as she joins the Wellington Point High School as Chaplain.

In October 2015, Cate commenced chaplaincy work at Wellington Point High and has already made a significant contribution within the school. We look forward to continuing our Chaplaincy support of Cate in the years ahead.

Farewell to Carl Coertsen but not goodbye. Carl has taken up a full-time position with the school.

Chaplaincy is partly funded by friends, supporting churches (including APWB) and the Federal Government.

See “Chappy Update”. The newsletters below will keep well informed of chaplaincy activities past, present and future and to discover ways you can support this important ministry.

Chaplaincy Breakfasts

Wello Pt Chaplaincy holds Chaplaincy Breakfasts for those who do not have breakfast before they come to school. Cate is seeking rostered assistance from 7:00am to 8:30am on Thursdays during term. No experience is necessary. If you would like to help please contact Vicki Sweeney by completing the contact us form.
