Ian Carr

Ian Carr

Ian was elected as a Warden and Parochial Nominator in 2015.

Ian and Margaret were married at St Georges in 1974 and have four adult children and six grandchildren. Before his retirement in January 2008, Ian was a Project Manager of IT projects relating to mapping with a State Government department.

He commenced attending St George’s church in December 1968, and apart from a 5 year period where he and Marg attended St Paul’s Manly, has worshiped at St Georges ever since. The main factor that has kept drawing Ian to St George’s is the friendliness of the people and the acceptance of all; by parishioners and clergy alike, regardless of ecumenical or churchmanship background.

In his younger years, Ian was an avid cricketer and keen tennis player. Both these sports were played at Redlands district level; with cricket culminating in his being selected as a part of the Queensland Country team to play against the English MCC team at Cleveland Showgrounds in November 1970.

Ian is currently involved with Alpha within the Anglican Parish of Waterloo Bay and is the Inreach Team Leader in the parish where he works closely with the clergy and office staff.

He is also involved as a catamaran skipper with the Anglican Sailing Adventures In Life Skills (SAILS at Bayside) which provides sailing and kayaking experiences for young people in general and especially with youth at risk.
